GENDER EQUALITY & INCLUSIVE GROWTH

Gender Equality is a state of equal rights, opportunities and responsibilities irrespective of gender. Gender Equality is also called Sexual Equality and often involves respecting the individuals’ rights of decision-making, access to resources, economic participation and valuing different behaviours, aspirations and needs equally, regardless of gender. For ages, India has been a patriarchal society where men’s right has been considered in favour of women’s right, resulting in Gender Equality often being mistaken for Women’s Empowerment. In reality, gender equality means equal rights for all spectrums of genders. A society which respects all gender is safer and healthier.

Our Initiatives

Gender Equality and Inclusive Growth are key priorities of the Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation. In alignment with SDG-5: Gender Equality and SDG-10: Reduced Inequalities, we are committed to empowering marginalized communities and promoting equitable opportunities. Our initiatives in District Faridabad, Haryana, address issues such as gender-based violence, economic disparities, and access to education and healthcare for women and gender minorities. We organize skill development workshops, leadership training, and awareness campaigns to raise awareness of gender rights and social inclusion. By focusing on reducing systemic inequalities, we aim to build a society where every individual, regardless of gender or background, has access to resources and opportunities for a better quality of life.

Give Her Wings to Fly

In many rural and underserved regions of Delhi NCR, inadequate menstrual hygiene awareness and limited access to affordable sanitary products remain pressing challenges for women and girls. Health reports indicate that nearly 70% of women in these communities continue to depend on unhygienic alternatives such as cloth or ash during their menstrual cycles due to financial constraints or lack of availability. These unsafe practices not only increase the risk of infections and reproductive health complications but also contribute to high absenteeism among school-going girls, ultimately affecting their education, dignity, and overall well-being.

The “Give Her Wings to Fly” Menstrual Hygiene Sensitization Initiative and Sanitary Pad Distribution Drive, led by the Dr. O. P. Bhalla Foundation, is a compassionate effort to bridge this gap. Aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-3: Good Health and Well-being) and (SDG-5: Gender Equality), the initiative focuses on promoting menstrual health, breaking taboos, and ensuring equitable access to menstrual products. Through interactive workshops in schools, community centers, and rural outreach programs, the Foundation educates both women and men about menstrual hygiene, fosters dialogue around period positivity, and empowers women to manage their health with confidence and dignity.

Pride Talk

Pride Talk is an annual celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community of Delhi NCR, organized by the Dr. O. P. Bhalla Foundation in collaboration with Radio Manav Rachna 107.8 FM. This vibrant platform is dedicated to amplifying diverse voices, fostering inclusion, and promoting awareness through meaningful dialogue and storytelling. Each year, Pride Talk brings together individuals and allies from all walks of life to share experiences, challenge stereotypes, and celebrate love, identity, and equality. Through these powerful conversations, the event continues to inspire understanding, empathy, and acceptance — honoring the spirit of Pride and the strength of the community.

International Women's Day

Each year, the Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation organizes a vibrant celebration of International Women’s Day, featuring a distinguished panel of social workers, entrepreneurs, government officials, and celebrities. This event inspires youth with powerful stories and discussions focused on gender equality, emphasizing the importance of equal opportunities and shared responsibilities. Through motivational talks and interactive sessions, the celebration fosters awareness and encourages young people to advocate for a more inclusive and equitable society.
