Haryana’s school dropout rate, particularly in rural areas, stands at approximately 5–6%, with higher dropout rates observed among girls and students from marginalized communities. According to UDISE+ 2022-23 data, the Secondary level dropout rate in Haryana is around 5.4%, while the Upper Primary level sees a rate of 3.2%. Although these numbers have shown a downward trend over the years, they remain a significant concern.

Education and skill development are critical pillars of social and economic progress. Studies show that each additional year of schooling increases a person’s income by 8–10%, and countries with higher literacy rates tend to have stronger GDP growth and lower poverty levels.

In Haryana, reducing dropout rates and improving educational access can directly contribute to creating a more skilled workforce, lowering youth unemployment (currently at ~26.4% as per CMIE, 2023), and uplifting over 10 lakh individuals from below-poverty-line (BPL) households.

Our Initiatives

Education and Skill Development form one of the core pillars of the Dr. O. P. Bhalla Foundation’s mission. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG-4): Quality and Inclusive Education, our initiatives are designed to bridge educational gaps and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

We focus on nurturing critical life skills, employability skills, and digital literacy among students, while also offering expert mentoring, career counselling, and financial aid to underprivileged youth in both rural and urban areas of District Faridabad, Haryana.

Our goal is to ensure that no child is left behind due to financial or social barriers, and every learner is equipped to succeed in a rapidly evolving world.

Special Scholarship Program, launched by the Dr. O. P. Bhalla Foundation, is a Merit-cum-Means initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to students from economically weaker sections (EWS), marginalized communities, Divyang (differently-abled) students, single-income families, and other underprivileged backgrounds. This program supports deserving students who aspire to study at Manav Rachna Educational Institutions but face financial constraints. By removing economic barriers, the scholarship ensures access to quality education, empowering students to achieve their academic goals and secure a better future.

Kaushal Karyashala

Kaushal Kaaryashala is a dedicated skilling program designed for Government School students from Classes 9 to 12, aimed at equipping them with Basic IT Skills and Vocational English. The program empowers students with essential digital and communication competencies to enhance their future career prospects and access higher-paying job opportunities.

Recognizing the digital divide and the lack of access to computers in many schools, Kaushal Kaaryashala was launched in 2018 by the Dr. O. P. Bhalla Foundation, in collaboration with Manav Rachna Educational Institutions. Under this initiative, faculty and student volunteers from Manav Rachna train students in state-of-the-art campus computer labs.

Participants undergo a 20-day training and assessment program, after which they are awarded certificates by the School of Computer Applications at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) and Manav Rachna University (MRU). The initiative not only builds technical proficiency but also instills confidence and workplace readiness among young learners.

Margdarshan

Margdarshan is a targeted career counseling initiative by the Dr. O. P. Bhalla Foundation, designed to support underprivileged students from government schools in Faridabad, particularly those in Classes 9 to 12. The program aims to bridge the critical gap in career guidance often found in low-resource educational settings.

At the core of Margdarshan is a scientifically designed Psychometric Assessment, which helps identify each student’s strengths, interests, personality traits, and career inclinations. Based on the assessment results, students receive personalized career guidance, empowering them to make informed choices about higher education, skill development, or vocational training.

By offering structured and expert-led counseling, Margdarshan ensures that students from economically weaker sections are not left behind in making crucial decisions that shape their futures. The initiative plays a vital role in promoting equal access to career awareness, regardless of socioeconomic background.
