GENDER EQUALITY & INCLUSIVE GROWTH
Importance of Gender Equality
Gender Equality is a state of equal rights, opportunities and responsibilities irrespective of gender. Gender Equality is also called Sexual Equality and often involves respecting the individuals’ rights of decision-making, access to resources, economic participation and valuing different behaviours, aspirations and needs equally, regardless of gender. For ages, India has been a patriarchal society where men’s right has been considered in favour of women’s right, resulting in Gender Equality often being mistaken for Women’s Empowerment. In reality, gender equality means equal rights for all spectrums of genders. A society which respects all gender is safer and healthier.
Our Initiatives
Gender Equality and Inclusive Growth are key priorities of the Dr. O P Bhalla Foundation. In alignment with SDG-5: Gender Equality and SDG-10: Reduced Inequalities, we are committed to empowering marginalized communities and promoting equitable opportunities. Our initiatives in District Faridabad, Haryana, address issues such as gender-based violence, economic disparities, and access to education and healthcare for women and gender minorities. We organize skill development workshops, leadership training, and awareness campaigns to raise awareness of gender rights and social inclusion. By focusing on reducing systemic inequalities, we aim to build a society where every individual, regardless of gender or background, has access to resources and opportunities for a better quality of life.

Give Her Wings to Fly
Problem
In rural and underserved areas of Delhi NCR, lack of menstrual hygiene awareness and limited access to sanitary products pose significant challenges for women and girls. According to health surveys, nearly 70% of women in these areas rely on unhygienic alternatives like cloth or ash during their menstrual cycles due to the unavailability or high cost of sanitary pads. This has serious health consequences, including a high risk of infections and reproductive health issues, and also leads to absenteeism among schoolgirls, impacting their education and overall well-being.
Our Solution
The “Give Her Wings to Fly” Menstrual Hygiene Sensitization Initiative and Sanitary Pads Distribution Drive, aligned with SDG-3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG-5 (Gender Equality), aims to address this critical need by raising menstrual health awareness and ensuring access to sanitary products. Through workshops in schools, community centers, and rural outreach, we educate both male and female population about menstrual hygiene and dispel taboos surrounding menstruation.
Maitri
Problem
In today’s fast-paced world, women often find themselves juggling numerous responsibilities at home and work, leaving little time for self-care and relaxation. This ongoing stress and lack of personal downtime can impact their overall well-being and hinder their ability to rejuvenate and connect meaningfully with others. Opportunities for women to celebrate their achievements, form supportive networks, and engage in stress-relieving activities are limited, leading to a lack of spaces dedicated to celebrating womanhood.
Our Solution
Maitri is an annual event created to address this need by providing a vibrant, stress-free environment where women can unwind, engage in fun activities, and form connections. With a series of engaging sessions that include singing, dancing, games, and casual conversations, Maitri allows women to celebrate their roles and achievements. This event fosters a sense of community, enabling participants to take a well-deserved break, share joyful moments, and feel empowered.
International Women's day

This event inspires youth with powerful stories and discussions focused on gender equality, emphasizing the importance of equal opportunities and shared responsibilities. Through motivational talks and interactive sessions, the celebration fosters awareness and encourages young people to advocate for a more inclusive and equitable society.
