Manav Rachna Educational Institutions and Dr. O.P Bhalla Foundation have been dedicatedly supporting the ‘Swacchh Bharat Swasth Bharat Abhiyaan’ through a series of cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns across various places in Faridabad. To carry on the legacy of Dr. O.P Bhalla and his mission of societal upliftment, Manav Rachna in association with Municipal Corporation Faridabad conducted Cleanliness Drive in Sector 21-C Market and Old Faridabad Railway Station simultaneously on 2nd October, 2016. Students of Manav Rachna International School, Sector- 21 C, Manav Rachna International University, faculty and staff of Manav Rachna along with the members from Municipal Corporation Faridabad participated in this drive. Before commencing the Cleanliness Drive, students along with their teachers sang mellifluous songs on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and reverberated slogans like Be the Change you want to see in the world, Cleanliness Drive will make our city bright, Clean Faridabad- Green Faridabad, Ek Kadam Swacchta ki or to name a few. The Schools even conducted special assemblies on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti to encourage everyone to follow the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi as he demonstrated, propagated and insisted for individual and community cleanliness throughout his life.
Ms. Sonal Goel, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Faridabad then inaugurated the Cleanliness Drive post which the students along with their teachers and senior dignitaries from the Manav Rachna Family vigorously cleaned the market area and railway station with great enthusiasm. Apart from cleaning the dedicated areas, fogging was also done to get rid of the mosquitoes in the area in order to eliminate the rapidly spreading harmful diseases. Hygiene and safety precautions were well taken care off for the students and the staff members.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Chavi Bhargava Sharma, Dean Faculty of Management Studies and Secretary Dr. O.P Bhalla Foundation, said, “The Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi 2 years back on 2nd October, 2014. To support this mission we have gathered here today to dedicate ourselves towards this initiative as Dr. O.P Bhalla foundation has been doing in the past and contribute towards the greater goal of the Nation’s building.”
Appreciating Manav Rachna ‘s commitment towards the Swachhta cause, Ms. Sonal Goel Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Faridabad, said, “Manav Rachna has consistently dedicated itself towards the cleanliness cause. We are happy to join hands with the Institution to sensitize Faridabad’s citizens for a clean, green Faridabad. Keeping the surroundings clean is a two-way process and the general public needs to actively participate in it and do their bit. I am sure this initiative will motivate more and more citizens to commit themselves towards the cleanliness mission.”
