Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad has always been a front runner in providing a helping hand to any public initiative and community service. MRIU has had a long standing tradition in presenting its expertise and services for any social enterprise for the benefit of community at large. As part of soulful homage and tribute to the legendary Late Dr. O P Bhalla, Faculty of Applied Science organized one day Community Health Camp on 22nd May 2015 at Siddhatta Ashram, Faridabad.The major objective is to provide free physiotherapy treatment and nutrition counseling to the community with special emphasis to the unprivileged.
Students of M.Sc. IV Semester along with Mrs.Lakhvinder Kaur (Assistant Professor) took part in the camp and provided free Nutrition Counselling and complete Body Composition Analysis.
Since, the camp was organized in holy vicinity; people took part with full zest and enthusiasm in taking advantage of the nutrition services. People with various ailments like diabetes, Hyper and hypothyroidism, obesity, overweight, underweight, hypertension and anemia were rendered Nutrition Counselling and complete Body Composition Analysis which included Body fat percentage, Muscle Percentage, Body water and Bone weight percentage. For assessing the nutritional status, their height and weight were measured using a stadiometer and a weighing scale, respectively.
The health camp started at 9:30 am and was over at 1:30 pm. Around 40 people from the nearby area visited the camp for nutritional counselling. Swami ji Shree Ramanujacharya ji Maharaj also visited the counter and enquired shower his blessings to all present and appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty for organizing such a health camp and providing their services.
