In the memory of our beloved visionary founder Dr. O.P. Bhalla, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions organizes a series of health camps in the month of March under the aegis of Dr. O.P. Bhalla Foundation. The first series of health camps was conducted today- Mental Health Camp, Community Health Camp by the Department of Physiotherapy and Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, and Dental Check-up Camp by Manav Rachna Dental College.

The 3rd Mental Health Camp “Sparsh: Touching People’s Lives” was held at Sai Dham School, Sector-86, Faridabad. The students of Department of Applied Psychology, Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences (FBSS) were engaged in counselling and providing psychological assessment services to the young school students. School students of all ages were counseled to manage exam stress and feelings of tension. FBSS students played a major role in assuaging their concerns and provided targeted solutions to help them tackle their upcoming examinations and pass with flying colours. The students had detailed and enriching conversations with the young scholars and with the help of standardized assessment techniques, they provided them detailed, appropriate and valuable information and resources. It was a highly important and enriching interaction.

Another health camp was organized at the school by the students and professionals from Faculty of Applied Health Sciences (Nutrition & Dietetics, and Physiotherapy). Dr. Shweta Sharma, Assistant Professor and Dr. Upasana Yadav, Assistant Professor with UG and PG students visited the school. A total of 150 children within the age group of 13 to 18 years of age were counseled. Physiotherapy services were offered to the patient for ergonomics and various deformities, developing any structural and functional problems and also for postural correction of the patients. Condition likes flat foot and other deformities were assessed and corrected. Scoliosis, kyphosis was assessed and referred for further treatment. General Health Screening of the patients was done to find a vulnerable group which is more prone to diseases and osteoporosis was screened and treated.

The students were also provided nutrition counseling and assessment services at the camp. Some of the children were Overweight and Obese whereas most of them were underweight, especially boys. The children were assessed for their height, weight and BMI as an indicator for the health problems. They were also counseled for understanding the concept of low Basal Metabolic rate in this age group, so more physical activity like walk, running and playing sports for at least 30 minutes every day was recommended. Protein-rich diet and protective foods were recommended according to their BMI.

Manav Rachna Dental Camp organized a Dental Check-up camp wherein nine members including faculty member and interns visited the school. They conducted an oral health check-up camp and gave proper treatment. Basic oral health education was provided to the students and 337 patients have been referred to the Manav Rachna campus for further treatment.
